Very Long Road

By Guest

Music has come to be considered our first language and an important player in human evolution.
An integral part of its nature is that it exists as a dialogue between the song, the players and listener.
In some ways the listener’s part would seem somewhat understated in these conversations when compared to the more obvious actions of the composition and performance.
In a sense, after conception, a composition is a dormant life form that waits in perfect stillness until it is awakened by those that can energize it.
As ‘Very Long Road ‘ trudges along I can literally feel the weight of the steps and the staccato beating seems to remind me of the insistent mechanics of life .
When the breaks happen it’s like the music needs to rest before it can continue to move forward.
Somewhat subtly there is a smoothly choral sound behind the March that offers maybe a hint of hope and balance to the journey, although it may be unseen.
The outro surprisingly offers a prospect of change. Or is this the End ?
Am I to assume that this is how we should anticipate receiving communications from you from now on… as you no longer needs words to explain things?
Looking forward to hearing more.

i love what you are saying here... if you know me, you now i am nothing but an endless bundle of words that doesn't know how to shut up!

the outro is a complete shift to a different place that is a wide open improv that i can't recreate here with these sibelius files... i envision a different feel and place that is kinda like a transcendence.. i love the idea of transcending something, whether it be the challenge of daily living or the sign of new life in spring.. thanks for sharing your thoughts here - james
